7 Days SUP Yoga Foundation Teaching is a dynamic and innovative 7-day training that combines the sport of Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) with the ancient practice of Yoga, offering a unique way to experience mindfulness, balance, and physical strength on the water. This Yoga Alliance Professionals certified program is designed to teach you the foundational principles of SUP Yoga, blending the serene movements of yoga with the exciting challenge of paddleboarding. The course provides 40 Continuing Education (CE) credits recognized by Yoga Alliance USA, allowing you to enhance your yoga teaching credentials and incorporate this refreshing practice into your teaching repertoire.
SUP Yoga is a growing practice that has gained global popularity due to its ability to connect practitioners with nature, promote mindfulness, and increase breath control while challenging the body in new ways. The first principle of starting SUP Yoga is to slow down—move at half the speed you normally would on land to help maintain balance on the paddleboard. Maintaining a steady gaze at the horizon is also crucial for balance, as sudden movements can cause loss of stability. By focusing on breathing, body alignment, and mindfulness, SUP Yoga helps practitioners develop a deeper level of self-awareness while enjoying the benefits of being on the water.
The program emphasizes proper body positioning on the paddleboard, which is crucial to ensure balance and prevent falls during the practice. As you transition through various yoga poses, you will learn to stay present in the moment, aligning your mind and body with the movements of the water beneath you. Hydration is also stressed in the program, as staying properly hydrated helps maintain energy levels and reduces fatigue, especially when performing physical movements on the paddleboard.
The benefits of SUP Yoga are vast, starting with mindfulness and breath control. Practising SUP Yoga requires slow, deliberate movements that increase awareness of breath, which can enhance your ability to stay calm, present, and focused. The combination of breath and body movement also helps improve balance and flexibility, crucial for maintaining a stable position on the water. In addition, the practice strengthens core muscles, arms, shoulders, and legs, contributing to overall physical fitness. As a low-impact activity, SUP Yoga offers a gentle yet effective way to exercise while enjoying the outdoors, providing a refreshing sense of connection with nature.
SUP Yoga also provides a unique opportunity to experience nature's beauty. Practising yoga on the water allows you to take in scenic views while connecting deeply with the environment, offering a calming and rejuvenating experience. The peaceful movement of the water, combined with the therapeutic effects of yoga, produces a profound sense of tranquility and relaxation. The natural setting offers fresh air and a soothing environment, further enhancing the physical and mental benefits of the practice.
This course will teach you the essential SUP Yoga techniques, starting with the foundations of paddleboarding and gradually integrating yoga poses into your practice. The training includes guidance on proper body positioning, breath control, and balancing techniques, while also focusing on developing your teaching skills so you can confidently instruct students in SUP Yoga. The goal is not only to learn the basics of SUP Yoga but to gain the tools to lead others in this practice with confidence and clarity.
